Tijjani Reijnders has opened up about his decision to leave Manchester City for Saudi Arabia, admitting that financial security for his family played a major role in the move.

Just one month after completing the switch, the midfielder was candid about his priorities and explained that the contract gives him the opportunity to secure the future of several generations of his family.

“Once my playing career is over, I don’t want to have to work anymore,” Reijnders said. “Of course, I probably wouldn’t have needed to work anymore after my contract at Manchester City either, but this move allows me to secure the future of the next generations of my family.”

The Netherlands international made no attempt to hide the financial motivation behind his decision, insisting that the opportunity was simply too significant to turn down.

“I’m not going to lie about that. By signing this contract, I can make sure even my grandchildren are financially secure, so why wouldn’t I do it?”
