Ajax have officially confirmed the signing of Marc-André ter Stegen from Barcelona on a season-long loan, bringing one of Europe's most experienced goalkeepers to Amsterdam for the 2026/27 campaign.

The 34-year-old German goalkeeper arrives after an injury-hit spell with Barcelona but brings a wealth of experience, having won multiple La Liga titles, the UEFA Champions League, and numerous domestic trophies during his time in Spain.

Ajax view Ter Stegen as a major addition as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The move also reunites the veteran goalkeeper with familiar faces at the Dutch club, where his leadership and composure are expected to play a key role both on and off the pitch.

For Barcelona, the loan helps reshape their goalkeeping department while reducing part of the club's wage bill. Reports indicate the Catalan club will continue to cover the majority of Ter Stegen's salary during the loan spell.

The deal runs until the end of the 2026/27 season, with Ter Stegen now set to begin a new chapter in the Eredivisie as Ajax aim to challenge for domestic honours and make an impact in European competition.
