Liverpool Already Considering Permanent Ronald Araújo Deal

Liverpool are already considering making Ronald Araújo’s loan move from Barcelona permanent, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Uruguay international has reportedly impressed the club with his performances and adaptation since arriving at Anfield, having made just seven appearances so far. His versatility has also been a major factor, with Araújo capable of operating both at centre-back and right-back under manager Andoni Iraola.

Liverpool currently have a non-mandatory €55 million purchase option in the defender’s loan agreement. The clause was reported by Mundo Deportivo when the deal was completed and has also been reported by other Spanish outlets.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool on a season-long loan from Barcelona in August, with the Reds taking responsibility for his wages. Liverpool officially confirmed the temporary move, with Araújo becoming part of Iraola’s squad for the 2026/27 campaign.

Araújo has already shown his ability to contribute in different defensive roles, including a notable performance against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League, where he provided a clever backheel assist for Dominik Szoboszlai.

If his strong start continues, Liverpool could decide to activate the €55m option and turn the Barcelona captain’s temporary stay into a permanent transfer.
