Lamine Yamal Leads MARCA’s 2026 Ballon d’Or Poll as Fans Tip Barcelona Star for Glory

Lamine Yamal is emerging as a leading fan favourite in the race for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, with the Barcelona wonderkid reportedly topping a poll conducted by Spanish newspaper MARCA.

The 19-year-old sensation has captured the attention of football fans following another remarkable campaign, with his performances for Barcelona and Spain strengthening his reputation as one of the biggest stars in world football.

According to reports on MARCA’s readers’ poll, Yamal has moved ahead of several high-profile contenders, including Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappé. The result has intensified discussions among supporters, with many believing the young Spaniard could finally claim football’s most prestigious individual award.

Yamal’s case is particularly compelling following his contribution to Barcelona’s domestic success and Spain’s triumph at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His creativity, dribbling, decision-making and ability to influence major matches have continued to distinguish him from his peers.

However, leading a public poll does not automatically mean the award has been secured. The Ballon d’Or winner is determined through an official voting process involving selected international journalists, rather than a general public vote.

With the ceremony scheduled for October 26 in London, the debate surrounding Yamal and Mbappé remains one of the biggest talking points in football.

For now, Yamal’s reported lead in MARCA’s poll sends a clear message about his popularity among supporters. Whether that enthusiasm translates into the official Ballon d’Or remains to be seen.
