Ahmed Elmohamady Hails Rayan Cherki as One of the Best Playmakers in World Football

Former Premier League defender Ahmed Elmohamady has lavished praise on Rayan Cherki, describing the Manchester City star as one of the best playmakers in world football and a player whose exceptional technical ability makes him a joy to watch.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Elmohamady expressed his admiration for the French international, highlighting the entertainment and creativity he brings to the game.

“Rayan Cherki is one of the BEST playmakers in the world. He's a joy to watch. You pay to watch him!” Elmohamady said.

Cherki has earned a reputation for his remarkable close control, exceptional vision, unpredictable dribbling and ability to unlock stubborn defences with incisive passes. His confidence on the ball and willingness to attempt difficult moves make him one of the most exciting creative talents in modern football.

The Frenchman rose to prominence at Lyon, where his flair and technical quality attracted attention across Europe before he moved to Manchester City. Under Pep Guardiola, Cherki has the opportunity to develop his understanding of positional play while adding his natural creativity to a team built around possession, movement and attacking intelligence.

What makes Cherki particularly exciting is his ability to produce moments of individual brilliance. Whether operating between the lines, creating chances for teammates or taking on defenders in tight spaces, he possesses the qualities that can turn an ordinary attacking move into something extraordinary.

However, establishing himself among the very best playmakers in the world will require consistent performances at the highest level, particularly in major domestic and European competitions.

Elmohamady's comments reflect the growing appreciation for Cherki's unique style of football. In an era where tactical discipline often dominates the conversation, the Frenchman represents the kind of creative player who can make football feel spontaneous, unpredictable and entertaining.

If he continues to combine his natural flair with consistency and decisive contributions, Cherki could become an increasingly influential figure at Manchester City and one of the standout creative midfielders of his generation.
