Carragher Slams Ronaldo and Those Defending Him
Jamie Carragher slams Cristiano Ronaldo, Piers Morgan and Rio Ferdinand over their defence of the Portuguese star amid his dispute with manager Jorge Jesus.

Jamie Carragher has launched a fierce attack on Cristiano Ronaldo and those defending him amid the controversy surrounding the Portuguese superstar's recent fallout with manager Jorge Jesus.
Speaking on The Overlap Daily, the former Liverpool defender accused Ronaldo of making situations about himself and suggested the forward was trying to get his manager sacked.
“He can never; it always has to be about him. He's obviously trying to get the manager sacked,” Carragher said.
The criticism comes after Ronaldo publicly explained his decision to leave Portugal's national team camp, accusing Jesus of breaking promises over his playing time and their agreement to clarify the situation publicly.
In his statement, Ronaldo insisted that he had never demanded to start every game. He also apologised to supporters and acknowledged that his actions could have consequences, while maintaining that he remained available for Portugal in the future.
Carragher Targets Piers Morgan and Rio Ferdinand
Carragher also took aim at Piers Morgan and Rio Ferdinand, accusing them of defending Ronaldo because of their personal relationships with him and their interest in securing interviews.
“You see people like Piers Morgan and Rio Ferdinand; they were big people in the media, whether you liked them or not, absolutely embarrassing themselves with the nonsense they're coming out with, because they know Ronaldo and they want to get an interview with him,” Carragher said.
Morgan has publicly defended Ronaldo during the dispute, arguing that the player felt disrespected after Jesus allegedly failed to honour agreements made privately. Morgan has also challenged the manager's account of what happened.
Carragher, however, believes Ronaldo's behaviour cannot be justified.
“You can't defend the indefensible; it's embarrassing,” he added.
The disagreement has divided opinion, with Ronaldo's supporters arguing that he was treated unfairly, while his critics believe the 41-year-old should accept the manager's authority rather than allow a dispute over playing time to overshadow the national team.
Was Carragher right to call out Ronaldo and his defenders, or is the criticism of CR7 going too far?
