Hakim Ziyech Joins Botafogo on a Free Transfer

Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech has officially opened a new chapter in his career after joining Brazilian giants Botafogo on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old attacker arrives after leaving Wydad Casablanca by mutual agreement, bringing his brief spell in Morocco to an end. Ziyech spent 11 months with Wydad, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in 16 appearances.

Now, the former Ajax and Chelsea star is heading to Brazil, where he has signed a contract running until the end of 2028. His arrival represents another major statement from Botafogo as they add a player with significant European and international experience to their squad.

Ziyech enjoyed the most memorable period of his career at Ajax, before moving to Chelsea, where he was part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2021, as well as the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

The Moroccan international also represented Galatasaray and Al-Duhail before returning to Africa with Wydad. He brings 64-plus international appearances and two World Cup campaigns with Morocco to Botafogo.

From Amsterdam and London to Rio de Janeiro — Hakim Ziyech is now a Botafogo player.
