Coventry City are closing in on another major attacking addition, with the Championship club reportedly reaching an agreement to sign Sidiki Chérif from Fenerbahçe.

According to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Coventry have agreed a deal for the 19-year-old striker, with his medical reportedly taking place today.

The transfer is understood to be worth around €24 million, potentially rising further with bonuses. Chérif is set to leave Turkish football immediately after only recently joining Fenerbahçe.

The move represents a significant investment from Coventry as they continue to strengthen their squad. The club have already completed the signing of Taiwo Awoniyi, and Chérif would provide another option in attack as they target promotion.

Chérif joined Fenerbahçe after establishing himself as one of the promising young forwards in Turkish football. His performances have attracted considerable attention, and Coventry now appear ready to make him one of the club's most expensive signings.

With the medical underway, the final formalities are expected to follow before the transfer can be officially announced.

If completed, Coventry's deal for Chérif would underline their ambition and willingness to invest heavily in their top-flight season campaign after 25 years away, while Fenerbahçe would receive a substantial return on the young striker.

The deal is not officially completed yet, but all indications point towards Chérif becoming a Coventry City player.
