Breel Embolo Set to Join Atlanta United in $18M MLS Move
Breel Embolo is set to join Atlanta United from Stade Rennais in an $18 million MLS move, choosing America despite interest from England and Italy.

Atlanta United are set to sign Switzerland international striker Breel Embolo from Stade Rennais in a deal worth up to $18 million, according to reports emerging on Friday.
The 29-year-old forward has chosen a move to Major League Soccer despite having other options on the table. Embolo reportedly had interest from Ipswich Town, Hull City and two Serie A clubs, but ultimately preferred a move to the United States.
Embolo joined Rennes from AS Monaco in September 2025 and enjoyed a productive campaign, recording 10 goals and three assists last season. His arrival would represent another major investment from Atlanta United as the club looks to strengthen its attack.

Atlanta had been pursuing Embolo for several weeks, with negotiations progressing after the Swiss striker emerged as one of the club's preferred attacking targets. Rennes had already been open to his departure after just one season in France.
The move would make Embolo one of the most expensive incoming transfers in MLS history and gives Atlanta a proven international forward entering his prime.
After choosing America over opportunities in England and Italy, Embolo is now on his way to MLS, where he will look to make an immediate impact with Atlanta United.
