Aston Villa are Progressing in Negotiations With Club Brugge Over Joel Ordóñez Deal

Aston Villa are making progress in their attempts to sign Ecuadorian defender Joel Ordóñez from Club Brugge, with negotiations now moving into an important stage.

According to reports from The Athletic, Villa are discussing an initial loan deal for the 22-year-old, which would include an obligation to buy for around €30 million.

The proposed structure could allow Villa to secure Ordóñez now before making the transfer permanent, with the precise conditions triggering the purchase obligation still being negotiated between the clubs.

Ordóñez has already given his approval to a move to Villa Park, with personal terms reportedly agreed. Aston Villa are now focused on reaching a final agreement with Club Brugge.

The Ecuador international has emerged as one of Villa's preferred defensive targets following Ezri Konsa's departure to Arsenal. Villa have also explored a move for Southampton's Taylor Harwood-Bellis, but negotiations over Ordóñez are now progressing.

Club Brugge initially valued the defender at around €40 million, but the proposed €30 million package would represent a significant reduction, with his recent injury also a factor in the negotiations.

With the summer transfer window approaching its conclusion, Villa are pushing to complete the deal and bring one of Europe's highly regarded young centre-backs to England.
