Sabah FC may have left Old Trafford on the wrong end of a 4-0 defeat to Manchester United, but the Azerbaijani side still managed to create a unique piece of Champions League history.

On their first-ever appearance in the competition, Sabah named a starting XI featuring 11 players from 11 different nationalities — an incredible representation of football's global reach.

According to Opta, Sabah became the first team in Champions League history to field a starting XI made up entirely of players representing 11 different nations in their first-ever Champions League match.

The remarkable lineup stretched across the globe. Kazakhstan's Stas Pokatilov started in goal, while Algeria's Akim Zedadka, Azerbaijan's Rahman Dashdamirov, South Africa's Aden McCarthy and Poland's Tymoteusz Puchacz formed the defensive line.

The midfield brought together Uzbekistan's Umarali Rakhmonaliev, Croatia's Ivan Lepinjica and Serbia's Veljko Simic. Further forward, Jamaica's Kaheem Parris and Nigeria's Christian Nwachukwu provided the attacking threat, with Rwanda's Joy-Lance Mickels leading the line.

From Africa to Europe, Asia and the Caribbean, Sabah's XI was a genuine footballing mosaic.

The night ultimately belonged to Manchester United as they secured a convincing 4-0 victory, but Sabah's historic team sheet provided one of the most fascinating talking points of their Champions League debut.
