Rony Gives Up No.11 for Coutinho in Classy Santos Gesture

Coutinho was being officially unveiled as Santos’ newest signing, initially holding up the No.19 shirt, when Rony made a surprise appearance. The forward, who had been wearing Santos’ iconic No.11 this season, walked over carrying a shirt with “COUTINHO 11” printed on the back.

Rony had voluntarily decided to give up his number so Coutinho could wear No.11 at Santos — a gesture that carries plenty of meaning given the number’s history and Coutinho’s connection with it.

Rony will now switch to No.32, while Coutinho takes over the No.11 shirt as he begins this new chapter of his career.
