Mamardashvili to Start for Liverpool Against Tottenham as Iraola Confirms Change

Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to make his Liverpool start against Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow, with manager Andoni Iraola confirming that the Georgian goalkeeper will replace Alisson between the posts.

Liverpool face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, and Iraola has decided to rotate his goalkeeper despite praising Alisson’s performances so far.

“Will I change the goalkeeper? Yes. Alisson is proven, he is playing very well. I rate Giorgi very highly, I know him from his years in Spain,” Iraola said.

The Liverpool boss also revealed that Bournemouth had previously tried to sign Mamardashvili before Iraola arrived at the club, highlighting how highly he has rated the goalkeeper for some time.

“We tried to sign him for Bournemouth before I came here, he is a very good goalkeeper. He is going to start tomorrow.”

The Tottenham clash will therefore provide Mamardashvili with another opportunity to impress at Anfield and demonstrate why Liverpool invested in the highly rated Georgian goalkeeper.

With Alisson remaining Liverpool’s established No.1, every opportunity will be important for Mamardashvili as he looks to establish himself under Iraola.
