Manchester City Displeased With Premier League’s Commission Statement and Vow to Fight Guilty Verdict

Manchester City have vowed to pursue every available appeal avenue after the Premier League Commission published its verdict in the club’s long-running financial case.

In a statement released on Tuesday, City said they were “disappointed and surprised” by the Commission’s opinion and maintained that the club remains innocent of the accusations brought by the Premier League.

The club claimed it possesses a “comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence” supporting its position and said it would be “relentless” and, where necessary, proactive in all appropriate regulatory and legal forums.

City also stressed that the Premier League process is not yet complete, with “significant elements” still outstanding.

“Manchester City FC will now pursue the appeal avenues open to it, on the basis that the opinion contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact, and is unsafe,” the statement read.

The club also questioned the independence of the Premier League’s regulatory process, saying it had spent eight years respecting due process on the expectation that the league’s board and executive would act as an “independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator, free from partisan influence.”

City concluded by saying it was restricted in what it could say publicly while future proceedings remain ongoing.

The Premier League Commission’s decision therefore represents another major stage in the case, but City’s intention to appeal means the dispute is not yet over.
