Lewandowski Announces Himself With Match-Winning Brace for Chicago Fire

Robert Lewandowski wasted no time making his mark at Chicago Fire, scoring twice to lead the MLS side to a 2-1 victory over Charlotte FC in his first home appearance.

The former Barcelona striker was making his second appearance for Chicago after coming off the bench in last week's 3-1 defeat to New York City FC. This time, he gave Fire fans exactly what they had been waiting for.

Charlotte took the lead, but Lewandowski pulled Chicago level in the 20th minute with a stunning strike from outside the penalty area.

The Polish star was not finished.

With the match still tied in the second half, Lewandowski found space inside the box and calmly fired a low shot into the bottom-left corner in the 68th minute to complete his brace and seal all three points.

It was the perfect response from the 37-year-old after a disappointing debut and an ideal way to introduce himself to the home supporters.

Lewandowski joined Chicago Fire from Barcelona on a two-year deal this summer after ending a successful spell in Spain. His experience and eye for goal are expected to play a major role as the club looks to climb the MLS standings.

If there were any doubts about whether Lewandowski could still deliver at the highest level, his performance against Charlotte provided a strong answer. Two goals, one match-winning display, and a dream home debut suggest Chicago may have landed exactly the striker they needed.
