Jeff Bezos Closing In on Major Liverpool Stake
Jeff Bezos is reportedly part of a consortium nearing a deal for roughly one-third of Liverpool, while FSG would remain the club's controlling owner

Jeff Bezos is reportedly closing in on a deal to become a major investor in Liverpool, with Fenway Sports Group advancing talks to sell a large minority stake in the club.
According to Sky News, a consortium led by Amit Bhatia is close to acquiring a stake of roughly one-third of Liverpool. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is part of the investment group alongside Eduardo Saverin, one of Facebook's co-founders.
The Times reports that the consortium has been in discussions with FSG for around three months, with negotiations now well advanced.
However, this does not mean FSG are selling Liverpool outright.
FSG would remain the club's controlling shareholder after the proposed transaction, meaning the reported deal would give Bezos and the wider consortium a significant minority position rather than control of the Premier League club.
The consortium is being led by Bhatia, who is the son-in-law of Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal. Saverin and Bezos are among the other prominent names involved in the group.
The reported investment would value Liverpool at around $5.9 billion, according to Al Jazeera, underlining the enormous financial value the club has reached since FSG bought it in 2010.
FSG have previously allowed outside investors to acquire minority stakes in Liverpool while retaining control of the club. The latest proposal would therefore represent a significant change in the ownership structure without being a full takeover.
For Liverpool supporters, the biggest question may be what the new investors' involvement means for the club's future.
Bezos is one of the world's richest people, while the consortium includes several major business figures.
Could Jeff Bezos' arrival change Liverpool's financial ambitions, even if FSG remain in control?
