Bayern Munich Overcome Bodø/Glimt’s Early Defiance to Storm to 5-0 Victory

Bayern Munich were made to work for their Champions League victory before eventually turning on the style against Bodø/Glimt.

The Norwegian side arrived at the Allianz Arena with a fearless approach and frustrated Bayern throughout a goalless first half. Vincent Kompany’s men dominated possession but struggled to find a way through a disciplined Bodø/Glimt defence, while goalkeeper Nikita Haikin produced a string of impressive saves to keep the visitors level.

But Bayern emerged from the break with an entirely different intensity.

Jamal Musiala finally broke the deadlock in the 47th minute, marking his return to the starting XI with a crucial goal. The breakthrough opened the floodgates, with Harry Kane heading home in the 61st minute before Alphonso Davies added a third with a powerful strike.

Michael Olise then put the result beyond doubt, scoring twice in the closing stages to complete a five-star Bayern performance.

The 5-0 victory also extended Bayern’s remarkable record of winning their Champions League opener for a 23rd consecutive season. Kane continued his own European scoring streak, finding the net in an eighth consecutive Champions League appearance.

Bodø/Glimt’s early defiance deserved plenty of credit, but once Bayern found the breakthrough, the difference in quality became impossible to ignore.

For Kompany’s side, it was another emphatic statement that even when the opposition makes life difficult, Bayern have the quality to eventually break them down.
