Raphinha Has Two Hat-Tricks in Four Days as Barcelona Keep Winning

Four days after scoring three goals against Racing Santander, the Barcelona captain produced another hat-trick as Hansi Flick's side defeated Sevilla 3–1 away from home.

The Brazilian has now scored two hat-tricks in four days, taking his LaLiga tally to 12 goals after just seven matches. Cadena SER reports that his latest treble also saw him surpass Lionel Messi's best-ever scoring start to a LaLiga campaign.

His extraordinary run began with a goal against Sevilla earlier in the campaign before he continued scoring against Athletic Club, Rayo Vallecano, Valencia and Racing Santander.

Against Racing, Raphinha scored three times in Barcelona's 7–2 victory, including two penalties.

Four days later, he did it again.

Raphinha scored three different types of goals against Sevilla as Barcelona recovered from going behind to claim another three points.

His latest performance has pushed his league tally to 12, leaving him firmly at the top of the LaLiga scoring charts.

The numbers become even more impressive when Barcelona's overall start is considered.

The victory over Racing had already given Barça seven consecutive wins in all competitions for the first time in the club's history.

The win in Seville made it eight victories from eight competitive matches.

Barcelona had already scored 28 goals in their opening six LaLiga games, and their attacking numbers have continued to climb.

Raphinha has been at the centre of that explosion.

The 29-year-old was also named LaLiga's Player of the Month for August after registering six goals and an assist during the first four league matches.

Yet there is one part of his start that remains particularly striking.

Despite his form for Barcelona during the previous campaign, Raphinha was omitted from the 2026 Ballon d'Or shortlist. France Football and UEFA's official nominees included Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí among the Barcelona representatives, but Raphinha was not included.

That omission has already attracted criticism. Barcelona sporting director Deco publicly questioned Raphinha and Pedri's absence from the shortlist, while describing the situation as a major controversy.

Now Raphinha is producing another remarkable scoring run at the beginning of the new season.
