Nigeria Face South Africa in Crucial WAFCON Play-Off

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face South Africa on Thursday, August 13, with a place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament at stake.

The match comes just days after Nigeria’s shock WAFCON 2026 quarter-final exit. The defending champions were beaten 1-0 by Cameroon on Sunday, ending their hopes of retaining the African title.

South Africa also missed out on the semi-finals after losing their quarter-final to Morocco. The two beaten quarter-finalists will now meet in one of the two African play-off matches scheduled for Thursday in Casablanca.
