Lionel Messi’s family is facing renewed concerns over media coverage following the death and funeral of his father, Jorge Messi.

However, claims that Messi’s legal team has announced plans to take legal action against media outlets over alleged privacy violations during Jorge’s farewell have not been independently verified by major reliable sources at the time of writing.

Jorge Messi, Lionel’s father and longtime agent, died in Rosario on August 7 at the age of 68 after a prolonged illness. Reuters reported that Lionel had spent time with his father after the 2026 World Cup and was expected to return to Rosario for a private wake.
