Luis Díaz Shines as Bayern Beat Aston Villa in Pre-Season

Bayern Munich wrapped up their pre-season tour of Asia with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa, but it was Luis Díaz who stole the spotlight with another eye-catching performance. According to reports, the Colombian winger came off the bench to score Bayern's second goal as Vincent Kompany's side continued their preparations for the new season.

Kim Min-jae opened the scoring in the first half, rising highest to head home from a Tom Bischof delivery and give the Bundesliga champions a deserved lead before the break. Bayern controlled large periods of the contest, with Kompany's pressing system causing Villa problems throughout the match.

The biggest talking point, however, was Díaz.

Introduced in the second half, the former Liverpool star cut inside before firing a superb strike into the net to double Bayern's advantage. It was another reminder of why Bayern moved quickly to bring him to Munich, and his early performances are already generating excitement among supporters.

Aston Villa refused to surrender. João Gomes pulled one back with a fine effort late in the game, setting up a tense finish, but Manuel Neuer produced important saves to preserve Bayern's lead.

While it was only a friendly, the match offered plenty of clues ahead of the new campaign.

Bayern looked sharp going forward and created several chances, but they also showed defensive vulnerabilities after conceding late, something Kompany will want to address before competitive football begins.
