Liverl’s bond with Diogo Jota continues to go beyond football, and the club’s latest tribute has once again shown that the Portuguese forward will never be forgotten at Anfield.
For the 2026/27 season, Jota’s image will feature prominently on the back of Liverpool’s new team bus, accompanied by the Portuguese words “Campeão Imortal”, meaning “Immortal Champion.”
It is another powerful reminder of how deeply Jota remains connected to the Liverpool family.
Since his passing, the club has repeatedly honoured the 28-year-old. Liverpool retired his iconic No.20 shirt across all levels, while tributes from supporters, players and staff have continued to make sure his presence remains part of the club.
The bus tribute carries particular symbolism. The team bus represents the journey Liverpool make together throughout a season — to matches, competitions and ultimately in pursuit of trophies. Having Jota's image on it means that, in a symbolic sense, he continues to travel with the team.
Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and became an important part of the club’s attack, helping the Reds win major honours, including the Premier League. His final competitive achievements also included winning the UEFA Nations League with Portugal shortly before his death.
Liverpool’s latest gesture therefore feels less like a conventional memorial and more like a statement: Diogo Jota remains part of the journey.
The message is simple but powerful — immortal champion, forever No.20.
