Raphinha has revealed how one phone call from Hansi Flick completely changed his situation at Barcelona and convinced him to remain at the club.

The Brazilian winger admitted that, before speaking with Flick, he had already mentally accepted that his time at Barcelona was coming to an end.

“I was in Brazil when Flick called. In my head, I knew I was leaving. Mentally, it was already decided,” Raphinha revealed, as reported by The Guardian.

However, everything changed when he met the German coach. Flick assured Raphinha that he trusted him, believed he would play an important role and felt that Barcelona’s style of football would suit his qualities.

“Then I met him and he told me he trusted me, that I would be important and that the team’s style of play would suit me,” Raphinha said.

The conversation gave the Brazilian the confidence he needed to reconsider his future.

“In a moment like that, just a few words can change everything. He gave me the confidence I needed to play football,” he added.

Raphinha subsequently embraced Flick’s project and made his determination clear.

“From that moment, I only had one thing in my mind: give everything.”
