Klopp Introduces Four New Rules for Germany

Jürgen Klopp has wasted little time putting his stamp on the German national team, introducing four new rules designed to increase discipline and strengthen togetherness within the squad.

According to BILD, the rules were established by Klopp and his coaching staff during a meeting in August and are already being implemented during his first international camp.

The first concerns dinner.

Under former coach Julian Nagelsmann, players could arrive at the team hotel restaurant within a flexible window around 7pm or 8pm. Klopp has now changed that system, with the entire squad expected to sit down together at the designated time.

The idea is to use meals as an opportunity for players to communicate and spend more time together.

Klopp has also introduced restrictions on phone use before matches.

Players are not allowed to use their phones during matchday activation, including when warming up in the gym or receiving massages. Instead, conversations with teammates are encouraged.

However, this is not a general ban on phones at the team hotel.

The third rule concerns haircuts.

Players will no longer be allowed to have their hair cut at the team hotel or training base. Anyone wanting a fresh haircut must arrange it before joining the national team.

Finally, family visits during major tournaments will be significantly reduced.

Under Nagelsmann, players' families were allowed to visit the team base regularly during the 2026 World Cup. Klopp's approach will allow such visits only occasionally, with the emphasis instead placed on keeping the squad together and focused on their shared objective.

The changes show that Klopp is already attempting to establish a different culture around the German national team, with greater emphasis on punctuality, interaction and collective focus.
