Anthony Gordon Weighs In on the Ballon d’Or Race

Anthony Gordon has shared his thoughts on the Ballon d’Or race, highlighting Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane as two players with strong claims for the prestigious individual award.

Speaking about Yamal, Gordon praised the Barcelona star’s remarkable performances at such a young age, describing the teenager as being on “a whole other level” right now.

“For me, it has to be one of the two in terms of what they've achieved. What Lamine's achieved at such a young age,” Gordon said.

“The kind of player he is, is ridiculous. He's on a whole other level right now. For a 19-year-old to be doing what he's doing is crazy.”

However, the Newcastle and England winger also pointed to Kane’s historic season as evidence that the Bayern Munich striker deserves to be firmly in the conversation.

Gordon highlighted Kane’s goalscoring numbers and his contribution to England during the World Cup, arguing that both players have compelling cases for the award.

“But if we were talking of last season, Kane has got as big of an argument as anybody because his season was historic.”

“The amount of goals he scored, the things he's done for us within the World Cup, they both have large arguments. So I wish them both the best of luck.”

Gordon ultimately stopped short of choosing between the two, instead acknowledging the achievements of both players as the Ballon d’Or discussion intensifies.
