Five England Players Ruled Out of Nations League Fixtures

Tino Livramento, Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford and Declan Rice have all been ruled out of the four-match international window because of injury issues, the Football Association confirmed on Monday.

Palmer’s withdrawal comes shortly after his return to the England squad. The Chelsea midfielder had been recalled by Tuchel after missing England’s 2026 World Cup squad, but a muscle injury means he will now miss the Nations League fixtures.

Mainoo and Rashford are also unavailable after picking up injuries around Manchester United’s recent match against Fulham, while Livramento remains sidelined with an injury issue. Rice has also withdrawn despite playing the full 90 minutes for Arsenal against Brighton at the weekend.

Tuchel has responded by bringing two players into the squad.

Everton midfielder James Garner and Nottingham Forest attacker Morgan Gibbs-White have both received late call-ups and will join the rest of the England squad at St George’s Park on Tuesday. 4

Garner already has two senior England caps, both earned in March 2026, while Gibbs-White has made six appearances for the Three Lions.

Gibbs-White arrives in particularly strong domestic scoring form. He has scored 13 Premier League goals during 2026, level with Erling Haaland for the most in the competition during the calendar year.

England begin their Nations League campaign against Spain at Wembley on September 26, before travelling to face Czechia on September 29. They then play Croatia in Rijeka on October 3 before hosting Czechia again on October 6.

The five withdrawals leave Tuchel without several established options as England begin their new Nations League campaign.
